Tom Jarman

Interim Hub Manager

Tom joined the Hub in June 2021 as interim Hub Manager while a permanent post-holder is recruited. His background is in housing and construction, working client-side for 15 years the local authority and social housing sector in the North East. Tom is actively committed to helping build a better performing, more resilient construction sector, delivering great outcomes for clients – including safe, good quality, high-performing decarbonisation.

Alan Millar

Energy Hub Programme Manager

Alan has been with the Hub since August 2019. His primary role is promoting the Rural Community Energy Fund in Yorkshire and Humber. He has also been getting back to his housing roots through involvement in the Green Homes Grant LAD2 programme. He has over 15 years’ experience in project delivery for housing associations in the North East and in Scotland, including delivering social housing in the Inner Hebrides. The commute could be long but was very relaxing.

Energy Hub Project Manager

Abbie joined the Energy Hub in June 2021 after relocating, from Edinburgh, back to her hometown of Middlesbrough. Her background is in environmental geography, housing retrofit schemes, and home energy efficiency and renewable technology programmes, which she managed while working with Energy Saving Trust. The Coronavirus pandemic has further highlighted the need for safe and comfortable energy efficient homes - which Abbie is keen to strive towards within her role in the Energy Hub.

Lee Gatley-Hall

Tees Valley Energy Project Manager

Lee joined the Energy Hub in July 2021 having previously worked within Stockton Borough Council’s Environment Team tackling fuel poverty and improving health and well-being across the Tees Valley. An experienced professional, Lee has a number of years’ experience in projects and management and was even a teacher in a past life. Lee is keen to secure and implement exciting future renewable energy and energy efficiency opportunities for the residents working and living within our region.


Nicole Huston

Housing Retrofit Project Manager

Nicole has worked in roles across the housing and third sector for the past 10 years, both for Local Authorities, Housing organisations and charities, mainly in community, tenancy, sustainability, energy, environmental fields. She worked as a Project Development Coordinator at a national charity (NEA) part of the team managing a £26 million Redress fund on behalf of Ofgem and Central Government. This involved working on over 100 projects across the UK, working with Local Authorities and Housing Associations to deliver energy improvements to over 8,500 homes. Nicole joined the North East and Yorkshire Energy Hub in July and her main work involves supporting North East Local Authorities to deliver the Green Homes Grant Phase 2 Funding.

West Yorkshire Project Manager

Nadia joined the team in February 2021, working in partnership with local councils and businesses to ensure that everyone in the region benefits from a strong, successful economy and a modern, accessible transport network. Nadia has significant experience in the renewables industry having worked on the design and management of commercial solar systems as well as on supporting businesses to be more resource efficient.

Colin Blackburn

Sheffield City Region Project Manager

The Project Management role in Sheffield is currently out for recruitment, but in the interim the role is being covered by Colin Blackburn. Colin is the Assistant Director for Housing, Infrastructure and Planning at the Sheffield City Region LEP, with responsibilities covering energy, asset management, investment, and strategic policy. Colin has a wealth of experience working in senior roles in local authorities across the North East and Yorkshire.

Sajalu Dahal

Hull and East Yorkshire Project Manager

Sajalu joined the Energy Hub in April 2021. With a process engineering background, and experience in petrochemical, renewable energy and food manufacturing, Sajalus is an active advocate for STEM subjects in schools and women in engineering. Utilising her skills and experience, Sajalu is helping deliver the local energy agenda. She hopes to contribute to and influence the energy policy and strategy at the national level. In her spare time she likes to cook, keep fit, and take her dog for a walk!

North East Project Manager

Andrew heads up our collaborative work in the North East, driving growth through regional energy. He has extensive experience in leading energy and low carbon programmes both nationally and internationally. He is a chartered environmentalist, a member of the Energy Institute, and a published journal author.

Katie Privett

York & North Yorkshire Project Manager

Katie supports energy project development in York and North Yorkshire, helping partners to drive change towards a regional target of becoming carbon negative by 2040. She’s got a particular interest in innovative approaches to reusing unavoidable food and agricultural wastes, via bio-refining and anaerobic digestion.

The Energy Hub Board Members govern and provide strategic direction for all Hub activity, and are formed of representatives of the six constituent LEPs in the region
