What is a COP26 Regional Roadshow?
Throughout the fortnight of the COP26 event in Glasgow, we will be hosting COP26 Regional Roadshows to mirror the activity and themes happening at COP26. COP26 Regional Roadshows are supported and funded by BEIS, through the 5 regional Energy Hubs. These events will help to motive and inspire people to join the race to net-zero and cut their carbon emissions.
As part of each COP26 Regional Roadshow activity roll out, there will be an events programme which aims to showcase local carbon reduction activity and projects to public, delegations, and investors.
During the fortnight of COP26, the North East and Yorkshire will host 12 COP26 Regional Roadshows, managed by 5 different organisations.
OneVoice, North East England Construction Summit
The OneVoice, North East England Construction Summit brings together leaders and decision makers from across the construction sector and the supply chain. Together we explore how the industry can positively impact the climate emergency, deliver exceptional whole life value for clients, and create companies which have the happiest, most engaged, and productive workforce. Theme say of ‘Finance’ and focus on how to build financial capacity for SMEs.
Date and location: 3rd November, Ramside Hall Hotel, Durham
Target Audience: Representatives from the NEE construction industry including consultants, contractors, sub contractors, supply chain, clients and stakeholders from both the North East LEP and TVCA regions.
South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority
SYMCA will host 4 events in their region. The events in Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham will focus on Youth and Public Empowerment will a particular focus on the importance of decarbonising how we travel to school and work by holding ‘School Streets’ events, as well as Low Traffic Neighbourhood events. The event in Sheffield will mirror the ‘Nature’ theme and will focus on urban greening and sustainable food.

Target Audience: Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham – young people and their parents/ carers and teachers. Sheffield: largely citizens (Families and public utilising the active travel corridor, residents) but also opportunity for wider city businesses interested in hearing how they can start moving to net zero
Richmond Climate Change Action Partnership
Nature themed event hosted by local community group. Activities for the local community will include forest school activities, bug hotels, pond dipping, bird box building, green wood demonstrations, composting sessions, upcycling and Hazel/Willow coppicing.

Target Audience: Local community
Event held around the ‘Science and Innovation’ theme day. Event will demonstrate how South Yorkshire is an industrial hub specialising in innovative new technologies that are vital for the global green hydrogen economy, supply chain and decarbonisation targets.

West Yorkshire Combined Authority
WYCA will hosts 5 COP26 Regional Roadshows, one located in each Local Authority. The Leeds and Calderdale events will be held on 5th November and mirror the Youth and Public Empowerment theme. The Kirklees, Wakefield and Bradford events will be held on 11th November and will focus on Cities, Regions and Built Environments.
Leeds – A Green Careers event focused on raising awareness and inspiring secondary-age young people to consider a future in the low carbon economy.
Kirklees – Kirklees City Council are proposing to deliver an event showcasing the new Kirklees Climate Commission and potentially linking to the official launch event of the Commission as a way of demonstrating effective local, place-based carbon reduction and awareness.
Wakefield – Wakefield Council are proposing an event centred around their pilot urban greening project. The project will introduce green infrastructure into the city centre and promote active travel.
Bradford – Bradford City Council are planning an event focused on launching the exciting development plans for Yorkshire Water’s Esholt Treatment Works.
